What is Kaspa? 
Kaspa presents itself as a cutting-edge proof-of-work transaction layer, renowned for its exceptional speed and scalability. Leveraging an innovative blockDAG structure, transactions directed to miners are seamlessly recorded in the ledger. This framework is anchored in the GhostDAG/PHANTOM protocol, which serves as a scalable enhancement of the Nakamoto Consensus originally developed for Bitcoin. The architecture remains true to the founding principles established by Satoshi Nakamoto, such as a deflationary monetary policy, no pre-mining, no central governance, and an isolated state formed by UTXO. Notably, Kaspa distinguishes itself by sustaining high block rates while ensuring robust security characteristic of leading proof-of-work networks. At present, Kaspa's mainnet operates at a frequency of one block per second, with aspirations to significantly elevate this rate following a transition to the Rust programming language. This enhancement aims to broaden Kaspa's functionality to encompass smart contracts and decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.
